      <image:caption>I interviewed a varierty of Netflix users who had a lot to say about their experience. All the users I interviewed said they spent a good deal of time browsing and scrolling before choosing something. Many even said that they sometimes just get frustrated and end up watching the same show all the time. One interviewee said, “I feel lost on what to watch sometimes.” Another said, “I usually give up after 5 minutes of scrolling.” Finally, a third user said “I feel overwhelmed with Netflix and the suggestions are never good.” After understanding their pain points, I asked whether or not a short and fun quiz to help narrow options would make them feel better about using the service. Unsurprisingly, 90% said yes, many said they actually enjoy taking quizzes. The part I needed to figure out was how I was going to present the quiz in a way that didn’t seem obnoxious.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>After interviewing my research led me to believe that this new feature should be presented in a bold yet discrete manner for the user to take the quiz and save time on scrolling. In order to grasp how the feature should encourage the user, I need to create a happy path. I asked five users to do a quick task analysis on the Netflix app. The users quickly showed me how they normally navigated the app and where they would expect to find the quiz and also how they would like it to be presented to them. After creating the happy path is was time to move on to my lo-fi!</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Since we can’t rely on just one user persona, I decided to send out a survey and conduct 5 user interviews in order to dig deeper into the user’s needs and pain points when it comes to their digital content consumption. The survey that was sent out garnered 50 responses and with our 5 user interviews, the feedback was very insightful. 66.7% indicated that they didn’t enjoy the online publications because they don’t have time to read them when most aren’t “short and digestible.” 70% said they were more likely to read an online fashion magazine based on appealing design layout, fun colors, and clear/large images. When it came to the content that they actually want to see in a magazine 84% said fashion, beauty, news, and tech as their top choices. For interviews, the overall feeling was that users found magazines to be overwhelming, a bit stereotypical when it comes to women’s images for everyday readers, and oversaturated with ads. After reviewing all this the question left to answer was: How might we provide users with a relevant trendy fashion, current events, and inspiration without making them feel overwhelmed?</image:caption>

      <image:caption>With the how might we on hand the objective was clear, to create a relevant trendy fashion magazine that featured current event articles and give inspiration without feeling overwhelming to readers. The main competitors that I focused on were Elle, Vogue, People, Cosmo, and Bazaar. I found that these publications crammed lots of information and 10+ different categories onto their pages. To look for inspiration for the layout I did find the layout for Vogue to be pleasing so I took some inspiration from that as well as inspiration from other magazines like Rolling Stones and i-D.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>When it came to the mood board getting inspired for the UI I wanted for the app to be in a dark mode as it helped give it a more sleek and sophisticated aesthetic. Furthermore, I wanted to incorporate pops of color also to give it vibrancy, the key colors were dark indigo, turquoise, Fushia, along with an icy light blue. There are illustrations as it added to the playfulness and the simplicity of navigation. Images for exercises needed to be clear and depict the description it would have on the app. The dark colors were inspired by nature and sunsets.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>For the main screen when testing with users many expressed feelings of confusion when first looking at the app. They thought that perhaps it was a GPS app and not a sports app to match with others. Many also felt overwhelmed when looking at the app. The main changes made were in the colors the dark mode took away the feeling of overwhelm and minimizing the size of the map while adding tags to match let the users know this was indeed a sports app.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>As previously mentioned the chat screen was created so that users could intuitively understand that this is where all their messages would be sent and received. Furthermore, the option to send a voice message or add an activity was included. Another tool added to this screen was the safety tool at the top right due to many users indicating that they would feel safe/comfortable knowing they could report someone if anything went wrong or they didn’t feel comfortable.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>My team and I started our research process by interviewing our stakeholder Leida at 6o Graus to gain further insights. We discovered that although many people go to the laundromat about 83% indicated that they would like to at least be able to book a drop-off online so that they could just go to the laundromat drop-off their dirty clothes and pick it up that day or the next. We discussed goals to increase profits, overall goals for the laundromat, and customer pain points. Leida was very clear when saying she wanted to emphasize the idea of bringing the community together through the laundromat’s patio so we also discussed having an updated events calendar. After interviewing Leida our goal was to ensure the overall design was clean, simple, and intuitive.</image:caption>

We hoped to see if our filtering and sorting options were intuitive, and wanted to find out if our flow was simple enough. After testing we found we still has too many steps.       <image:caption>10 years after VAIRKKO’s marketing website launched, it was time for an overdue redesign. The marketing website was my first project as the founding UX/UI Designer at VAIRKKO and was designed using the new process from start to finish. This redesign provided a better way of informing potential new clients of everything VAIRKKO had to offer. Research shows that approximately 90% of potential leads’ decisions come from first impression of the website. We knew the marketing success would rely heavily on the improved UX/UI. The process I implemented allowed for a clear direction in how we would go about redesigning this website to ensure we could begin implementation by the required date without needing to go back and make changes.</image:caption>
